If you can only visit one single temple in Cambodia, do not make it Angkot Wat:
This is the true crown jewel of Khmer Temple architecture!
Banteay Srei is a 10th-century temple near Siem Reap dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and goddess Parvati (Ed.: Shiva's wife). Located in the area of Angkor near the hill of Phnom Dei, 25 km (16 mi) north-east of the main group of temples that once belonged to the medieval capitals of Yaśodharapura and Angkor Thom.

The complex is built of red sandstone, which is rare for Angkorian / Khmer temples. Red sandstone apparently withstands the weather much better than the other stones used, because the level of detail in the carvings is absolutely amazing (much of anchor looks more like melting wax)
The complex is also smaller, more intimate than its Angkor counterparts – allowing the visitor a much better grasp of the layout and how Khmer temple complexes were built.
