Just down the hill and a ten-minute walk from my hotel (the Tara Lodge Kep) is the beach with a modern pier and a mondernist complex known as Kep West.
Kep West is a beach bar, a beach restaurant, and a beautiful seaside restaurant all rolled into one building. I fell in love with the architecture the instant I saw it.
Kep West … two restaurants, (one casual outdoors, and one more elegant indoors … although indoors, two, the glass walls open up, letting an amazing ocean breeze flow through) ... and a spiral staircase up to the rooftop terrace in between.
... and what a chic beach interior!
Although a bit more expensive than other restaurants here in the area, it was well worth it for a perfect seaside lunch at the beach:
PRICE
A pomelo salad with fresh shrimp ($12), a fried softshell crab with kampot red pepper ($14) and a freshly made pineapple shake ($5) brought me to a total of $31.00 (28€)
